Lens: 50mm compact macro
Strobe: YS-D2
Location: Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan
This is a scene of a Himetatsu birthing in the sea in Minamata City. Although the scene was shot in the dark sea, I appreciated the fact that the strobe's dial surface tells me the position of the strobe by its color and the fact that it glows, making it easy to tell at a glance which position the strobe is in. The housing has a shoe on the top so I was able to shoot with the red light on.

A school of Japanese butterflies photographed in the ocean of Okinawa. I tried to capture the great density of the fish. The way the light from the strobe rotates is unique to the YS-D2, and the light reaches all four corners evenly and evenly. I like it very much because it reproduces colors beautifully.

A whale shark I encountered during the interview. I remember swimming frantically in excitement, moved by the sudden appearance of the shark. The compactness of the housing and port was a big help in this situation. The dials are easy to operate, so I was able to capture precious scenes in a short period of time.

INTERVIEW

●I have been using SEA&SEA for more than 20 years.
I have been using SEA&SEA products for about 20 years. This is because they were used by Ms. Ikuo Nakamura, a photographer who moved to Tokyo from Kumamoto and studied under him.
I have used NX-100 PRO, DX-D200, MDX-PRO 5D Mark II, MDX-5D Mark III, MDX-5D Mark III ver.2, and so on, and now MDX-5D Mark III ver.2 and YS-D2 are my main equipments.
●Strobe light with beautiful rotation
SEA&SEA's housings are lightweight, which is helpful when carrying them on the move. I also appreciate that they are well maintained. The strobe has the best light rotation and beautiful colors.

In underwater photography, I want to capture sudden encounters with living creatures and natural phenomena, so I place importance on operability and mobility when selecting equipment. I am now considering the introduction of a mirrorless camera, which will give me a wider choice of lenses.
